Ben Fund runners put the ‘Great’ into the Great Birmingham Run

Our Ben Fund runners put the ‘GREAT’ into the Simply Health Great Birmingham Run yesterday, Sunday 14 October, when they battled the torrential rain to accomplish the half marathon.

Serving and retired officers, police staff and friends of members were put through their paces as they battled the wind and rain to complete the 13.1 mile route and raise vital funds for the Fund.

With over 11,000 people taking part we were keen to spot our amazing runners as they crossed the finishing line and thank them for their incredible efforts.

Thankfully all of our Ben Fund Team members finished and we were able to say a personal thank you to everyone who took part.

So far our fundraising has exceeded the original £500 target, however we are keen to raise as much money as we can.

If you would like to support the work of WMP Benevolent Fund please visit the just giving page and donate https://www.justgiving.com/crowdfunding/wmpbenevolentfund

Even a small amount builds up, so any donation is gratefully received.

On behalf WMP Benevolent Fund we would like to thank everyone who has donated so far and of course a massive thank you to our runners; Johnny Norgrove, Dave Faries, AKA Mrs Potato Head, Andrew Walker, Rebecca Hackett, Anna Perring, Mark Collins, Steve Radford, Jon Butler, Jason Stacey, Peter Wright, Andrew Burchell, Sally Bebbington, Paul Talbot and not forgetting Benevolent Fund general manager, Steve Newbury.

You were all truly magnificent, well done, thank you and see you next year to do it all again!

Benevolent Fund pays tribute to the late Tony Timms
It is with great sadness that we announce the recent death of Tony Timms who passed away, peacefully in his sleep, on 2 September. Most of Tony’s life was dedicated to the Police service. He was a valued member of our management committee, for almost 20 years, offering advice and support to its members. He was also still involved in the Management Committee of the Birmingham branch of NARPO. “He cared deeply and passionately about his serving and retired colleagues”,...
