Benevolent Fund says farewell to Steve Newbury
Staff, committee members and Fund Directors would like to wish Steve all the very best as he steps down from the Benevolent Fund and bids us a final farewell this month.
Steve joined West Midlands Police in the 1989. It was during his police training at Ryton that he met his wife, Chris. They have two children both studying at university and Steve and Chris will be celebrating their 25th wedding anniversary next year.
Steve’s probationary year was spent at Walsall where he was later promoted to acting sergeant on response at Bloxwich. In 2000 he took up a sergeant’s role at Brierley Hill before returning to the old ‘H2’. He later became a custody sergeant and spent time with Force traffic. More recently he has worked with the Accident Reconstruction Department.
During his police career Steve made time to support the work of the Benevolent Fund and became a committee member. His work and commitment to the Fund over the years has been really appreciated and we wish him well.

Following his retirement from the Force Steve will be taking up a challenging role as a truancy and welfare officer for his local education authority. We hope he still gets the opportunity to spend precious time with his family and support his football team, Luton Town FC.
